  1. The Ship

From the recording Entanglement

Lyrics

Fog was crawling all over the town
Cars were stalling, strangers were found
Talking of darkness and destruction
He walked through the streets down by the sea
Losing his feet in a tangle of weed
Thinking of virtue and compulsion

Easy to find if you know how to look
She fixed herself as the walls round her shook
From footsteps out in the hall she knew were his
She would never say what she'd feel
She though he thought nothing was real
She gave herself in silence in the night
They lost themselves in silence to the night

Down in the harbour a shout for a light
As out of the mist a ship came in sight
Of seventeenth century construction
Nobody spoke, nobody moved
Out on the ship no sign of a crew
Just creaking of wood, no sign of function

Shaking his head he rose from her bed
Smiled at how young she looked when she slept
And frowned at how the future could scar her
Thought of how she cried in his arms
Of the storm in his heart that drew them apart
As he made his way back down to the harbour
As he slowly made his back to the harbour

Then ship had made dock, black and alone
The crowd were subdued by terrors unknown
Frozen by angles of disruption
Up on the bow, shrouded in smoke
He made ready to leave, before she awoke
Made ready his stories of seduction

Silently moving out over the waves
Something inside of him suddenly gave
And wracked with pain he feel down to his knees
Tears he cried stung him the more
That he had never shed tears before
But the tears he cried were swallowed by the sea
The tears he cried were swallowed by the sea

Fog was lifting all over the town
People waking as dawn came around
Shaking of feelings of confusion
And only the girl who lives on the hill
Staring out over the ocean so still
Drew any kind of a conclusion
